The truth about the contest

Often you will see the end in a contest to get more sales, and general advice on how to do it, but there are some facts you should know before their own.

I've seen a number of sign up for our newsletter and be entered into our monthly contest and see the sites submitted to various competitions. Have you ever organized a contest like this? If you know you will undoubtedly bring hundreds of new subscribers. Sounds like a great idea right? Wrong Even if you have hundreds of new subscribers, who have very few are interested in buying something from you. What we have is a list of people trying to win something, and wants something for free. That's why these lists are submitted its competition - because they expect to win free products and not have to pay for everything. However, you do not want buyers, applicants for a freebie. Not to say thatsomething wrong with the freebie seeker (I think we all love to get free products, and will always look out for great deals like this one!), but are not the target audience.

While the races may be a good thing, and do to build a mailing list, to understand the researcher freebie conversion of the list is very, very small in comparison, made up of current customers and people are sincerely interested in the product. Even if you do not have exact figures, and you must test your own, may take 1000 to get a list of freebie subscribers to a system of additional sales in the same list of 100 members aimed to generate 2-3 sales. Quite different from the right?

I recently launched a contest with my list of free search. I offered a free product with a name drawn from those suggested scents of candles. This list had produced few sales in the past, but when I offered something free - they have responded. About 800 subscribers were over 30 entries. One person was selected as the winner, and the remainder were contacted in person (twice actually) that will provide a coupon, in addition to providing their chosen scent was available. More than 30 people were contacted personally and said the recommended product is available. This experience is not for sale. Yes it is true - love. It is a fact - these people do not want to buy, they wanted to win the future.

So if you're in the thinking of the future competition for your business, attract only those who want to buy, but it is in. Here are a few competitions to lure buyers recommended that:

- Something questionnaire as why did you buy and why. This can also be used to help determine your target market is looking for and what you can do differently to increase sales .

- Purchase to include something fun to win with every purchase of their product for a period of time. Gifts away some prizes here and there, encouraging others to buy many times and not once .

- Gift Registry Ask them to complete their gift registry to your site with a list of friends and family to buy their products for them. It costs them nothing, they receive their products for free, and you are selling. You can also give each brand to win this.

There are many other ideas that can be used with an updated list or to gain new customers. Just make sure that any kind of competition that is involved in gives buyers!
